Your Opportunity:

Are you a dedicated and passionate Medical Radiation Technologist II (MRT) professional who has a strong ability for organization, communication, and problem-solving skills? The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) is one of Canada’s leading academic health science centres with a reputation for research, innovation, education and patient-centre care treating more than 700,000 patients annually. UAH is a fast-paced, busy and challenging Computed Tomography and Interventional Radiology departments in an acute care facility with both pediatric and adult patients. Open to MRT I and MRT II designations. As the successful candidate you will have demonstrated excellent skills in interpersonal, written, and oral communication. Proven judgment and decision-making. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work in stressful situations and a desire to further own the knowledge and performance relating to the field. Must be able to work with various health disciplines and demonstrate respect and partnership. This role requires flexibility, including availability for all shifts— days, weekends, evenings, nights, and after-hours on-call. Additionally, you must be capable of performing all physical components of the job, such as pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting, carrying, or transferring patients and supplies over 50 lbs. The position also requires wearing lead aprons for extended periods, up to a minimum of 6.75 hours.

Description:

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) II, you will perform specialized technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You may perform specialized diagnostic imaging procedures for Physician/Radiologist review, interpret physician requisitions and assist with the care and maintenance of imaging equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Cross-sectional anatomy courses in progress or completed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working experience in Computed Tomography and Interventional Radiology in a Trauma and Pediatric Center is preferred.
