Job description

Your Opportunity:

Lacombe is a city with easy access to Red Deer, Edmonton, and Calgary. The Lacombe Hospital provides a range of health services, including a 24/7 emergency department. This Medical Radiation Technologist II position is open to CLXT and MRT staff, but it is a DI-only position. Working within a team environment, the Medical Radiation Technologist II is responsible for overall DI functions at the site, which include but are not limited to:

  • Organizing and coordinating resources and supervising a team of CLXT’s, MRT's, and a Sonographer to ensure quality operations.
  • Ensuring the performance of high-quality tests and images.
  • Monitoring daily processes and taking appropriate preventative or corrective actions when required.
  • Accurate completion of RIS/PACS functions.
  • Quality monitoring and review of all DI processes conducted on site.
  • Technical troubleshooting.
  • Ordering and maintaining supplies inventory.
  • Reviewing and monitoring financial, personnel, and statistical reports.
  • Implementing site-based procedures.
  • Liaising with other hospital departments, personnel, and physicians.
  • Ensuring compliance with radiation safety policies and safe work practices.
  • Investigating safety incidents and concerns.
  • Developing and maintaining staff schedules, including rotation re-design and time approval.
  • Participating in staff recruitment.
  • Completing annual performance appraisals.
  • Coordinating staff education and orientation.
  • Scheduling and leading staff meetings, documenting outcomes, and posting minutes.
  • Managing fiscal resources.
  • Using various software applications including Connect Care, e-People, i-Expense, Microsoft Word, Excel, My Safety Net, and SharePoint.

Description:

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) II, you will perform specialized technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for disease and pathology diagnosis. You may perform specialized diagnostic imaging procedures for Physician/Radiologist review, interpret physician requisitions, and assist with the care and maintenance of imaging equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
