Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a temporary full-time Medical Physics Assistant to join the Medical Physics Department at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The role supports QA across radiation therapy and imaging systems and works under a Medical Physicist for routine checks.

The position may contribute to commissioning projects, engage in research or clinical development, and assist with training students. Evening shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a bachelor of Science in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are mandatory.
• Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow written procedures.
• Familiarity with programming or scripting and general measurement and error analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality assurance tests on radiation therapy and imaging equipment.
• Maintain records of tests and measurements and follow procedures.
• Work under the supervision of a Medical Physicist for routine QA tasks.
• Contribute to commissioning projects and other assigned projects (research or clinical development).
• Provide research support and assist with training students as needed.
