We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Part-time Medical Office Assistant/Receptionist to support our Urgent Primary Care centre located in beautiful Abbotsford, B.C.

Urgent and Primary Care Centres are medical facilities that provide ongoing medical care and/or timely care for urgent, non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses that should be seen by a healthcare provider within 12 to 24 hours but do not require emergency department services. Detailed Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Operations, this role provides administrative support to the Urgent Primary Care Centre. As the first point of contact, you will ensure a safe, welcoming environment through excellent customer service. The Centre offers urgent care and longitudinal primary care to unattached, vulnerable clients, providing access to timely, person-centered, culturally safe health services. Responsibilities include front desk reception, registration, appointment booking, maintaining charts, managing databases, typing, filing, mail processing, and supporting navigation of the healthcare system.

Responsibilities
  • Operate multi-line switchboards, register patients, book appointments, follow up on referrals and tests, and answer inquiries.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and documents; maintain client records and databases.
  • Create a welcoming environment for clients and support their navigation of health services.
  • Gather and update data, generate reports, and maintain filing systems.
  • Process mail, faxes, reports, and courier documents.
  • Handle financial transactions, including billing and invoicing.
  • Assist with staffing and timekeeping functions.
  • Manage office supplies and organize meetings.
  • Operate office equipment and perform minor maintenance.
  • Liaise with healthcare and social service organizations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of office and medical equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience: Grade 12, completion of a Medical Office Assistant diploma, plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities: Typing 40 wpm, effective communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, sound judgment, organization, initiative, independence, computer proficiency, knowledge of iPHIS, understanding of office practices, and physical ability to perform duties.
