Medical Office Assistant - Part Time - Westgrove/Kingsway

Position Title: Medical Office Assistant

Job Type: Part-Time - Wed & Thurs 2 pm - 6 pm, Fri & Sat 9 am - 5 pm

Job Location: Westgrove and Kingsway Clinics

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Medical Office Assistant provides exceptional customer service to patients and supports physicians and medical staff.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Answer phones, greet, and register patients
  • Respond to patient inquiries in person and by phone
  • Initiate forms and collect payments for non-insurance-covered services
  • Escort patients to exam or treatment rooms and prepare them for physicians
  • Clean and prepare exam and treatment rooms between visits
  • Perform diagnostic tests as ordered, including urinalysis
  • Record blood pressure, temperature, height, and weight as directed
  • Schedule and notify patients of appointments
  • Scan patient documents into electronic medical records
  • Complete routine chores as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Office Assistant qualification is an asset
  • Recent customer service experience
  • Experience with Med Access or similar electronic medical records
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in medical terminology is an asset
  • Ability to handle confidential information per the Health Information Act
