Position Title: Medical Office Assistant

Job Type: Full-time - 9-5pm, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Medical Office Assistant provides exceptional customer service to patients and supports physicians and medical staff.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answering phones, greeting, and registering patients
  • Responding to patient inquiries in person and by phone
  • Initiating forms and collecting payments for services not covered by insurance
  • Escorting patients to exam or treatment rooms and preparing them for physicians
  • Cleaning and preparing exam and treatment rooms between visits
  • Performing diagnostic tests as ordered by physicians, including urinalysis
  • Taking blood pressure, temperature, height, and weight measurements as ordered
  • Scheduling and notifying patients of appointments
  • Scanning patient documents into electronic medical records
  • Completing daily, weekly, and monthly chores as required
  • Performing other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Office Assistant qualification is an asset
  • Recent customer service experience
  • Experience with Med Access or electronic medical records
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in medical terminology is an asset
  • Ability to handle confidential information in compliance with the Health Information Act
