Overview

Medical Office Assistant Rotary Hearing Clinic – St. Paul’s Hospital

We are a busy surgical practice located at St. Paul’s Hospital, seeking a full time medical office assistant (MOA). The position would first be on a temporary / trial basis for 3-6 months, with the potential for permanent status assuming acceptable work performance. The position would entail working with a group of 4 surgeons specialized in Otology and Neurotology (Dr. Kevan Lu, Dr. Brian Westerberg, Dr. Paul Mick, and Dr. Margaret Aron). Training will be provided by the current medical office assistants for the first few months of the new role.

Responsibilities
  • Scheduling appointments and meetings
  • Booking surgeries
  • Liaising with members of the Audiology team
  • Interacting with patients by telephone or by email
  • Billing and processing of mail
  • Coordinating schedules
  • Performing other duties as assigned

The position would primarily be in-hospital, with the opportunity to work at least 1 day a week remote depending on scheduling.

Location

In addition to the primary practice in the ENT clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital, the role may also require at most 2 days a week to be spent helping to coordinate appointments and follow-up at an outside clinic located at 6091 Gilbert Road, Richmond, BC.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • MOA certificate preferable, although an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Clinical secretarial experience, preferably in a University setting, or with a surgical specialist is preferred.
Skills
  • Experience with Plexia or other electronic medical records is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook is an asset
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Some work involves coordinating appointments in Richmond, BC. Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset but not required.
