Job description

This position is for a full-time administrative assistant for high volume Gynecology office position in North York.

Responsibilities for the position include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing all reception and clerical support for the physician
  • Maintaining the physicians’ daily schedules and coordinating clinical activities
  • Performing delegated clinical and administrative duties such as: Checking patients in, bringing patients into exam rooms, measuring weight and blood pressure, inputting information into the EMR (photocopying, faxing, filing and scanning), chaperoning procedures (ie. office endometrial biopsies), completing requisitions (ie. labs, ultrasound), calling patients with bloodwork/ultrasound results, calling labs/ultrasound clinics to follow up and obtain results of investigations, investigation tracking, cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment, placing supply orders and stocking exam rooms, coordinating operating room bookings, light tidying around office, expense claims etc
  • Liaising with other providers and administrative staff as needed
  • Answering phones, evaluating the nature and urgency of calls and responding or referring to appropriate individual in timely manner

Knowledge/Experience/Certification

  • Medical Secretary Diploma from a recognized program (preferred)
  • 5+ years experience in a clinical setting and knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
  • Experience with electronic medical records, specifically Accuro
  • Must have at least 50 wpm typing speed
