Job description
Looking for an experienced Medical Office Assistant to join our clinic located on the South Side of Edmonton. The successful candidate will be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with a large, congenial group of doctors.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Medical Office Assistant diploma with a minimum of 2 years experience
  • Typing speed of a minimum of 60 wpm (please do not apply if you cannot type 60wpm)
  • Ability to quickly use the numeric keypad (without looking at the keypad)
  • Must be reliable, punctual and a team player
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Meticulous sense of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly sort papers in alphabetical order and according to dates and times
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and adapting to the requirements and workload of running a medical office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in fluent English
  • Comfortable handling infants
  • Police check completed upon hire

Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience:

  • Autoclave/Sterilization
  • Transcriptions
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy laws
  • Netcare
  • Billing (both private and Alberta Health & Wellness)
  • Obstetrics
  • Ability to speak Punjabi or Hindi with some patients may be helpful but it is not a requirement

Job duties include:

  • Reception duties
  • Data entry
  • Measuring and documenting vital signs on each patient, including newborns
  • Rooming patients
  • Preparing examination rooms
  • Assisting with procedures
  • Billing
  • Transcription of letters, etc.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the office as per Alberta Health Services guidelines

Hours may vary from 30-40 per week.

Salary: negotiable based on experience and performance. Health spending account.
