Colchester Obstetrics and Gynecology is a busy Specialist Practice serving the Obstetrics and Gynecology needs of women living in Truro, Colchester County as well as receiving referrals from elsewhere in the Province of Nova Scotia.
The Medical Office Administrator communicates directly and confidentially with clinic patients, referring practitioners, other physicians, and support staff. Administrative and office functions include direct patient contact at the reception area including initial registration, as well as telephone, fax, and email communication.
Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to patient scheduling, sanitation and preparation of consultation rooms, equipment cleaning and delivery to the hospital for sterilization, specimen labeling, and ordering of supplies.
Responsibilities may also include acting as a chaperone during patient examinations and minor office procedures.
The successful candidate must have some experience working as an Administrative Assistant in a Medical office or be a graduate from a recognized Medical Office Administration Program.
A working knowledge of office equipment including computers, fax machines, and photocopiers is essential as well as proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Excel. The successful candidate should have prior experience working with an electronic medical record system (EMR). Prior experience with the Accuro EMR would be desirable.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as with other staff. The successful candidate must be able to work efficiently, remain calm during periods of high activity, and be able to prioritize completing tasks.
The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A high degree of confidentiality in a professional office is essential.
