The Health Office at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Medical Office Administrator.

Qualifications

A 2-year community college diploma in Medical Office Administration or Health Services Health Administration and a minimum of 2-years' related experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Prior experience with Medaccess, preferably in a university setting is considered an asset. The Health Office has a significant number of patients to care for which requires dedicated and focused support to ensure all administrative tasks are performed accurately and efficiently. A commitment to customer service is essential in this role, as are effective communication, organizational, and prioritization skills. Also required is the ability to think critically and the ability to proactively identify problems and bring a resolution forward in a tactful and positive manner. Given the confidential and personal information this position handles, discretion and professionalism are necessary in this role. Applicants should be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite, and have an aptitude for, or previous experience using SharePoint and One Web applications as well as with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

The Health Office is an integral component in providing health & wellness to our students and Mount community members. We partner and work collaboratively with a number of internal groups as well as with external community partners within the greater Halifax community. The Medical Office Administrator is responsible for coordinating medical services. Healthcare regulations need to be understood along with the ability to handle medical information discretely. This position responds to in-person, telephone, and email inquiries, books appointments, and makes appropriate referrals within and outside of the office as well as provides administrative support to the Nurse manager and the Doctors and is an integral team member.
