Description:

This position is newly created to support the Oncology Development Organization as the Medical Lead for GU Oncology & Emerging Areas.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Develop and implement the GU Oncology franchise strategy aligned with the overall Oncology Development and One Oncology Franchise Strategy. Ensure robust lifecycle management for key GU Oncology brands and contribute to the Oncology Development vision, mission, and plans. Serve as a thought partner for the Medical Head of Solid Tumor Oncology Development.
  2. Lead a team of physicians and development scientists to achieve the goals of the GU Oncology and Emerging Areas Development team. Ensure quality, efficiency, and a sense of urgency in clinical development planning and execution. Oversee talent assessment, development, and management, and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
  3. Build and maintain strong collaborations with Oncology Research, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Business Development teams to support clinical programs. Guide clinical candidate selection and support development activities, including defining disease opportunity profiles and target product profiles. Lead sustainability strategies for the franchise.
  4. Guide development of clinical study designs, review protocols, and ensure compliance with governance standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop global standards, SOPs, and quality controls aligned with ICH, GCP, and Astellas policies.
  5. Mentor and retain high-performing physicians and scientists. Manage resource deployment and ensure team competencies align with objectives.
  6. Ensure strategic input and quality in planning clinical development strategies, executing trials, and preparing regulatory submissions and publications.
  7. Partner with Pharmacovigilance to ensure safety standards and effective communication of safety information.
  8. Contribute to project and protocol reviews, ensuring medical excellence and participant safety.
  9. Support functional service relationships, ensuring quality and flexibility in resource management.
  10. Assist in preparing clinical program budgets and manage team budgets.
  11. Participate in Oncology Leadership Teams to provide Medical Sciences insights and contribute to strategic direction.
  12. Ensure high-quality Medical Sciences review of licensing and business development activities relevant to GU Oncology and Emerging Areas.
  13. Uphold the highest standards of ethics and organizational health, inspiring shared accountability within the Oncology Development Organization.
