What You'll Do

As a key part of our laboratory team, you will:

  • Obtain laboratory samples from patients as required.
  • Perform laboratory procedures and analyze results according to established policies.
  • Prepare solutions, reagents, standards, and controls for analysis in accordance with SOPs.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries for test results by various methods as required.
  • Communicate test results to appropriate parties, including other health team members, by printing and distributing lab results per procedures.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Report malfunctions per the Diagnostic Accreditation Program (DAP) practices.
  • Assist in evaluating technical procedures and contribute to policy and procedure development.
What you bring

Our ideal candidate is a dynamic individual with:

  • Required Certification: Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
  • Experience in: Core Lab (New graduates with CSMLS certification are welcome!).
  • Skills: Strong communication, adaptability, and a commitment to patient care excellence in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the impacts of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples, including a commitment to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.
  • Understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous rights and anti-racism efforts, including TRC Calls to Action, UNDRIP, and related documents.
Core Competencies
  • Understanding of Indigenous-specific and systemic racism, with initiatives to promote a safe, inclusive environment based on Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Awareness of social, economic, and political realities affecting Indigenous Peoples and equity-deserving groups, and a commitment to addressing these issues.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Recent working knowledge of laboratory procedures.
  • Technical competence in performing tests, quality control, and safety protocols.
  • Basic research awareness.
  • Effective communication skills, organizational ability, and teamwork.
  • Willingness to learn about Indigenous issues and anti-racism, sharing experiences to foster a motivated, inclusive culture.
