What You’ll Do

As a vital member of our laboratory team, you will:

  • Obtain laboratory samples from patients as required.
  • Perform laboratory procedures and analyze results according to established policies.
  • Prepare solutions, reagents, standards, and controls for analysis, following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Respond to test result requests and inquiries by various methods.
  • Communicate results to appropriate parties, including other healthcare team members.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting, reporting malfunctions per established practices.
  • Assist in evaluating and developing technical procedures and policies for your work area.
Qualifications
What You Bring
  • Certification from the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
  • Experience in a core lab environment (new graduates with CSMLS certification are welcome).
  • Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to patient care excellence.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates, cultural safety, and humility, and a commitment to anti-racism and equity in healthcare.
  • Understanding of the impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples, and a dedication to addressing these issues within healthcare.
Core Competencies & Skills
  • Understanding of Indigenous-specific racism and systemic barriers, with initiatives to promote a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Awareness of social determinants of health and their impact on health outcomes.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety, and quality control.
  • Effective communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to continue learning about Indigenous health issues and anti-racism efforts.
