Job summary

Job description

Hematology and Coagulation Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) activities include, but are not limited to the following :

  • Provide technical, scientific education, and supportive services to assist in the provision of patient care.
  • Perform routine automated and manual testing in Haematology, Coagulation, and verify / interpret laboratory results.
  • Promote activities that enhance best practice for quality of service and a safe working environment.

Qualifications / Skills :

  • Current C.M.L.T.O. Registration as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Recent Haematology experience required.
  • Recent Morphology experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge in Haematology and Coagulation.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of Quality Control theory and its application in troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and independently as required.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Flexibility / adaptability required.
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and middleware preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CQI.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices.
  • Knowledge of IQMH and Accreditation Canada Diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint required.
  • All applicants will be subject to a practical assessment prior to interview.
