Hours of Work:

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

What You’ll Do:

Responsible to the Charge Technologists in the Core Laboratory and to the Laboratory Manager(s) for performing a variety of routine tests in the various specialty areas of the Laboratory (e.g., Hematology, Immunohematology, Clinical Chemistry). When requested, takes charge of other areas during the absence of the regular Senior or Charge Technologists.

What You’ll Bring:

  • General Medical Laboratory Technologist certification by the Canadian Society of Laboratory Medical Science (CSMLS) or equivalent.
  • Holds current Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMTO).
  • Recent Hospital experience preferred (within 3 years), including Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry.

  • Proficient with computer skills, including EPIC and Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of staff, patients, physicians, external regulatory bodies, and the public.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with patients and staff.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under stressful conditions.
  • Flexible to adapt to a changing environment and hours of work to meet patient needs.
  • Good decision-making and judgment skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good concentration skills and attention to detail.
  • This position involves sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Teamwork skills and a positive attitude are essential.
  • Commitment to staying current technically and applying that knowledge to the position.
