Job description

Position Summary
Are you a Medical Laboratory Technologist looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Laboratory department.

Performs established laboratory procedures and related duties under the direction of the Chief Technologist and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy in the fields of biochemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, accessioning, and phlebotomy.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 07:00 to 15:00, 08:00 to 16:00. On Call required and shared.

Fort Nelson General Hospital is an important health centre for the north. The hospital houses 25 Acute Care beds and 8 Long-term beds. Services include:
• Lab and X-ray facilities
• Community Counselling Services
• Minor Surgery
• Physiotherapy
• Massage Therapy
• Regular visitation from a pediatrician

Fort Nelson is located in the northernmost reaches of the Rocky Mountains, has magnificent scenery and landscapes. The main industries are forestry, natural gas, transportation and tourism. The population is approximately 3,370. There are now three elementary schools and one secondary school. Fort Nelson is a charming and friendly community with genuine personality. Qualfications
• Must have successfully completed an approved training course in medical technology and be currently registered with the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists.
