Medical Lab Scientist - Blood Bank / Generalist

MTs perform and evaluate complex laboratory tests in various areas of the clinical laboratory. This position requires an in-depth understanding of complex precision instruments and a variety of automated and electronic equipment. MTs work with minimal supervision, recognizing problems, troubleshooting, and problem-solving. They may operate various instruments, assist in training, perform maintenance, and develop procedures to ensure test accuracy. They perform all required Quality Control procedures, document results accurately, and follow up on outliers. They notify the supervisor of unusual or unexpected results and potential problems, using appropriate documentation. They report critical values promptly and maintain complete, accurate records.
MTs follow all organizational policies, including Universal Precautions, Fire Safety, QA documentation, and Hazardous Waste handling. They assist in orienting new staff and students and support the smooth operation of the lab.
0-2 years of hospital laboratory experience, Baccalaureate Degree in Science, and MT(ASCP) certification or eligibility are required.
