Job summary

Shared Health - Westman Laboratory in Manitoba is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant for a term position in Specimen Management. This in-person role requires completion of Grade 12, preferably a Medical Laboratory Assistant program, and CSMLS certification preferred.

The position features a 0.52 FTE, 4.0 daily hours, anticipated start Nov 9, 2026 to Dec 10, 2027, and emphasizes confidentiality, accuracy, and ability to work with a team.

Qualifications

• Completed Grade 12 or equivalent, Manitoba Standards, is required.
• Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program is preferred.
• CSMLS Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification preferred.
• Microsoft Office programs preferred.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• Sterile techniques and routine practices preferred.
• 50 – 55 wpm keyboarding skills an asset.
• Apply basic math concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
• Follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills required in English.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member.
• Work under pressure.
• Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
• Fluent language skills (written and oral) in both French and English may be required.
