Mackenzie Health is hiring a Laboratory Assistant to support safe, high-quality patient care. You will perform venipuncture, ECGs and specimen preparation, while ensuring timely processing and documentation for referrals.

Ideal candidates hold an MLA certificate, Ontario registration, and at least 3 years of hospital experience, with strong communication and computer skills to thrive in a collaborative health-care setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold Laboratory Assistant Certificate from a recognized program.
• Registration with CMLTO, CSMLS or MLPAO is required.
• Minimum 3 years of MLA hospital experience.
• Computer skills in a Windows environment.
• Strong communication and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture for pre-operative, electives, in-hospital and emergency clients.
• Prepares and documents specimens for referral to external agencies.
• Performs electrocardiograms along with operating the Core Lab Automated pre analytical component.
• Performs blood procurement following lab policies and procedures.
• Ensures specimens are accessioned and processed quickly.
• Completes documentation of specimens for external referrals and troubleshoots incidents.
