A healthcare provider in Canada is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to assist with specimen processing, perform phlebotomies, and maintain laboratory compliance. Candidates should have a Grade 12 education and preferably a Medical Laboratory Assistant program certification. Skills in Microsoft Office and medical terminology are advantageous. Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Charge Technologist or designate, the Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) is responsible for assisting the laboratory in its role of sample triaging, accessioning, and processing of specimens. The MLA may also perform some basic routine procedures according to established protocols. Performs phlebotomies according to departmental policy. The MLA will maintain a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs and maintain standards put forth by Accreditation. Functions are conducted in accordance with the Mission and Values of Shared Health, current policies and procedures and applicable legislation.
Experience
Previous related experience preferred.
