A healthcare organization is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant in Victoria, Canada to enhance patient care through laboratory services. The role involves performing laboratory procedures, blood collection, and clerical tasks under team guidance. Candidates should possess a grade 12 education, a relevant training program, and one year of experience. Effective communication and proficiency in operating laboratory equipment are crucial. A BC Class 5 Vehicle Licence is also required for potential travel needs.

The Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics (LMPMG) is dedicated to enhancing patient care through high-quality laboratory services.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Chief Technologist, or designate, the Medical Laboratory Assistant performs laboratory procedures and clerical duties. Responsibilities include blood and specimen collection, sample preparation, distribution, storage, performing laboratory tests such as urinalysis with colour-coded dipsticks, and conducting Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing as required.
Travel may be required for this position. Transportation arrangements must meet operational requirements in accordance with the service assignment of the Vancouver Island Health Authority.
Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, and one (1) year of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid BC Class 5 Vehicle Licence.
