Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant in Alert Bay, BC. The role includes performing laboratory procedures, collecting blood and specimens, and managing clerical duties to enhance patient care.
Candidates should have Grade 12 education, complete training, and a valid BC Class 5 Vehicle Licence. Applicants must be effective communicators and capable of handling equipment and tasks physically.

The Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics (LMPMG) is committed to enhancing patient care through the provision of consistently high quality laboratory services.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Chief Technologist or designate, the Medical Laboratory Assistant performs laboratory procedures and related clerical duties. Responsibilities include blood and other specimen collection, preparing samples for analysis, distribution and storage of samples, performing laboratory tests such as urinalysis using colour‑coded dipsticks, and performing Electrocardiogram (ECG) testing where required.
Travel between multiple sites is a regular/on‑going requirement; transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority.
Grade 12, successful completion of a recognised Laboratory Assistant training program plus one (1) year of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid BC Class 5 Vehicle Licence.
