Job summary

LifeLabs seeks a Medical Lab Technologist for a temporary full-time role (37.5 hours/week) starting ASAP, ending July 9, 2027. Float shift, variable hours, in a teaching laboratory setting with strong collaboration among teams.

Responsibilities include performing and interpreting testing, ensuring accuracy, labeling, and patient privacy, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within LifeLabs’ safety standards.

Qualifications

• College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent education/experience.
• CMLTO registered and in good standing.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment while upholding safety and accuracy.

• Conduct a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
• Prepare and process samples with accurate labeling and documentation.
• Perform, interpret and release results while protecting patient confidentiality.

Job description

OurMedical Lab Technologists provide accurate and timely interpretive and diagnostic specimen testing and reporting. Through accuracy, quality, efficiency and expediting test results, you will contribute to patient well-being and the achievement of better health outcomes. LifeLabs facilities are also known as teaching laboratories and offer opportunities to share knowledge in a collaborative environment. You will have 24-hour medical support through our Medical Science team and Medical Library, and the ability to teach our college and university student placements.

Status: Temporary Full Time (37.5 hours per week). Start Date: ASAP. End Date: July 09, 2027.

Shift: Float Shift - variable shifts according to the business operations.

Discipline: ExamOne - Specimen Management (Chemistry and Hematology experience preferred).

This is part of the OPSEU LAB collective agreement.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
