Job summary

GSK in Canada seeks a Medical Governance Lead (MGL) to oversee medical governance for the Medical Division in Canada, with responsibility for risk management, monitoring, and governance documentation. The role supports audit readiness and governance excellence and manages one direct report.

Reporting to the Medical Education & Governance Director, the MGL builds governance capabilities, aligns with Global initiatives, and coordinates change management across Human Subject Research, Human Safety

Qualifications

• University degree in a scientific, clinical or health-related discipline (for example, Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Life Sciences) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience (including managerial) in medical affairs, medical governance, compliance, regulatory affairs or a related role within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong knowledge of local regulations and industry codes relevant to medical and non-promotional activities in Canada.
• Experience reviewing scientific content and external engagement to ensure compliance and scientific integrity.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at different levels.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English. Bilingual French/English is an asset.

• Escalates & engages cross-functionally with Divisional Leadership where issues are complex (E&C, Regulatory, CLT, Commercial) & is a member of above country networks (e.g. Applied Medical Governance)
• Builds & sustains strong working relationships with Global Medical Governance groups, cross functional teams and leadership teams to ensure Canadian medical voice is heard
• Serves as the Medical Divisions change management lead as it relates to medical governance, providing direction to MDLT on implementation tactics and identifying risk to the business
• Accountable for the Risk Management and Management Monitoring for the Medical Division
• Plays a key role on new strategic medical initiatives in areas of Human Safety Information, Human Subject Research & Scientific Engagement

Position Summary

The mandate of the MEDICAL GOVERNANCE LEAD (MGL) is to lead the medical governance and its capabilities for the entire Medical Division in Canada. The role will have oversight on the systems and the processes to support risk management, management monitoring, and governance documentation. The role will require to contribute and/or lead audit, inspection readiness and governance excellence on behalf of the Medical Division. The role has one direct report (Medical Governance Manager), who is responsible in supporting the MGL and in turn manages the Medical Governance Associate.

This is a role within Medical reporting into the Medical Education & Governance Director with accountability for building medical governance for Canada as well as supporting and leading the medical business on all change management initiatives as it relates to medical governance.

It has a broadened scope, accountability and strategic positioning within and across the business. It deals directly with Medical LT as well as CLT for both governance and innovative strategic initiatives.

The scope of accountability of the role provides oversight of internal control framework for governance for the Medical Division and is responsible for providing the Country Medical Director & Leadership team with assurance that good governance is embedded in the business. As part of its strategic positioning, the role will also be accountable for the oversight of all change management initiatives for Canada that are rolled out from Global medical as it relates to medical governance.

The role also ensures that high risk areas are being identified and mitigated in key areas of Human Subject Research, Human Safety Information and Scientific Engagement.

This role is accountable for leading efforts to build capabilities across the different cross functional areas by coordinating the local strategic training plan for all medical governance and strategies. Through this coordination the role will aid to reduce potential gaps in implementation and documentation of medical initiatives and governance policies and standards.

Additionally, this position will be responsible for driving the quality of CDN Medical Affairs work by aiding in the identification of gaps and providing recommendations on relevant scientific and medical matters.

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

• Advanced degree (Master’s, PharmD, MD or equivalent) or relevant clinical certification.
• Experience working in a matrix organization and supporting global to local implementation of governance changes.
• Prior experience with audit or inspection processes and remediation planning.
• Familiarity with medical operations metrics, trackers, and improvement initiatives.
• Experience delivering training or awareness programmes on governance, ethics or compliance topics.
• Comfortable using digital tools for tracking, reporting and document management.

Working Model

This role is hybrid and you will be expected to work in our Mississauga office 2-3 days per week. Will not be able to accommodate full-time remote schedule.

Salary

In compliance with Ontario's provincial pay transparency legislation, this job posting includes a salary range to support equitable and informed hiring practices. The annual compensation for this role is CAD132,000 to CAD182,000 , determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
