Job Purpose:

The Medical Director provides strong leadership to the local medical team and influences the overall vaccines medical strategy. This role involves providing insight into the vaccines healthcare landscape within the market using existing data and new clinical studies to deliver maximum value and optimized outcomes for patients, ensuring medical governance for scientific engagement and communication activities.

  • Provide the medical vision to guide the short to medium-term medical strategy that addresses patient, customer, and business needs.
  • Ensure medical plans reflect the needs of key internal and external stakeholders, serving as an integral part of the Brand Team strategic plan.
  • Work with the Brand Team to influence positive market access through external stakeholder engagement and Health Technology Assessments (or equivalent).
  • Lead medical teams on value-adding activities, including interactions and data presentations to EEs, HCOs, commissioners, formulary decision-makers, and national and local decision-makers.
  • Influence opinion leaders and policymakers to shape the local environment in line with scientific evidence and business strategy.
  • Input and influence R&D to ensure local needs are reflected in global plans, especially in clinical trials for market access requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate use and pharmacovigilance of GSK medicines in marketed brands and development projects.
  • Provide leadership in meeting internal standards and guidelines and external code of practice.
  • Responsible for departmental budgets, headcount plans, forecasts, workload, and productivity of staff to meet agreed plans.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:


  • Degree in Medical, Pharmacy, or Life Sciences.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Solid grounding in clinical, medical, and pharmaceutical science with the ability to rapidly assimilate specific and detailed knowledge in the relevant therapy area.
  • Experience working in medical affairs and in a matrix environment, managing senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong business acumen with excellent strategic thinking, communication, stakeholder influencing, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in evaluating and effectively communicating evidence-based medicine.
  • Track record of building strong internal and external networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and international cultural diversity.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to lead change.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, budgets, and interactions simultaneously.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
