Job summary

Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ontario, is seeking a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician for the Surgery - MDRD department. This temporary full-time position (1.0 FTE) is under the CUPE collective agreement, with shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing course is required.
• Current CSA or MDRAO certification is required and recertification every 5 years.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, are required.
• Ability to meet physical demands including long periods of standing/walking.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and availability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination of all medical/surgical instruments and equipment.
• Sterilization of all instruments, equipment and utensils.
• Assembly of equipment as required.
• Duties may vary based on assignment in the MDRD department.

Qualifications

• Minimum of grade twelve (12) or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing course required.
• Current certification through the CSA or MDRAO (less than 5 years) required, recertification through the CSA or MDRAO required every 5 years.
• Previous experience in an MDR setting is an asset.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal required.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job with or without accommodation (i.e. long periods of standing and/or walking).
• Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance.
