C.W. Wiebe Medical Centre, located in Winkler, Manitoba is seeking a full-time, experienced medical billing professional to oversee a team responsible for all aspects of medical billing for our clinic’s Fee for Service Physicians and Surgeons.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Officer, The Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the day-to-day work of the clinic’s Billing team, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all medical claims. This includes services for obstetrical, dental anesthetic, off-site anesthetic and surgical, critical care, special care unit, gynecology surgeries, complex claims for general and locum surgeons, and orthopedic surgeries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Supervision
    • Actively cultivates excellent communication with department staff, physicians and interdepartmentally within the clinic. Schedule staff according to workloads and available resources.
    • Recruit, hire, and train billing staff as required.
    • Train and evaluate billing staff to improve performance and efficiency. Ensure staff have access to ongoing education to enhance their skills when appropriate.

  • Billing Operations
    • Manage electronic and paper billing procedures while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, policies and regulations.
    • Resolve inquiries and disputes related to billing and insurance claims, coordinating with medical providers to verify patient records and billing accuracy.
    • Seek out ways to improve billing services through training, education, and use of technology and EMR systems.
    • Design and implement billing policies and procedures to streamline operations.
    • Monitor billing metrics and prepare reports for financial analysis.
  • Physician Support
    • Enroll new physicians with services required for billing and payment of services.
    • Assist physicians with information and education that allows them to optimize their medical billing.

Qualifications

  • Education
    Highschool diploma is required. Post secondary education is preferred.
  • Experience

Previous medical billing experience required. Previous experience managing a team of staff required, ideally in a healthcare setting.

  • Skills
Attention to detail, accuracy. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and an ability to interact effectively with healthcare professionals. Proficiency in healthcare management software, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and Microsoft Office Suite.

Position Type:Full Time minimum 1.0 FTE/40 hours per week.

Scheduled Work Hours:Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Occasional work outside of regular clinic hours may be required.
