Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to the Oshawa or Markham Elevation Centre at least three times per week.

Reporting to the CMO at General Motors, the Media Strategy Manager (Digital Focus) will be a key driver of our digital advertising success. The role involves developing, executing, and optimizing comprehensive digital media strategies aligned with our marketing and business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the digital media landscape, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies that produce measurable results. They should be a strategic thinker, a collaborative team player, and passionate about leveraging digital channels to reach and engage target audiences.

The position requires strong leadership skills to manage direct reports and external agencies, as well as to collaborate across functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Strategy and Leadership: Develop and refine digital media strategies across platforms (search, social, programmatic display, video, CTV, broadcast) to meet marketing goals and drive high-value behaviors. Work with Marketing Applied Science teams to use audience research, competitive analysis, and market trends. Define target audiences, media mix, budgets, and KPIs. Stay updated on digital media trends and lead full-funnel media planning.
  • Relationship Management: Manage relationships with media agencies, ad tech vendors, and platform reps (Google, Meta, TikTok). Collaborate with internal teams to support business objectives.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with Web Platform, Product Marketing, MarTech, and other teams. Coordinate with design and technology teams to optimize content and features, ensuring consistent brand experiences globally.
  • Performance Optimization: Establish KPIs aligned with business outcomes, lead forecasting and planning, and oversee significant media budgets at national and regional levels.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 8+ years in digital media strategy, planning, and buying, in-house or agency.
  • 4+ years in leadership roles managing teams.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Experience managing large digital media budgets.
  • Expertise in platforms like Google Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, LinkedIn Ads, DSPs such as The Trade Desk, DV360.
  • Proficiency in analytics platforms like Adobe Analytics.
  • Knowledge of ad serving technologies, measurement, attribution, and media mix models.
  • Ability to present to senior leadership and partners.
  • Leadership experience and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience with global markets and budgets.
  • Excellent communication skills. Automotive experience is a plus.
