Job summary

A city police department in Calgary is seeking a Media Disclosure Specialist to work with digital multimedia evidence and educate stakeholders. This temporary role offers a pay range of CA$37.77 - CA$50.50/hr, requiring relevant education and experience. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in policing or court disclosure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Examine digital multimedia evidence including Body Worn Camera media.
  • Use technology and software to vet and convert media evidence.
  • Educate CPS Officers and stakeholders on media submissions.

Base pay range

CA$37.77/hr - CA$50.50/hr

Responsibilities
  • Examine a variety of digital multimedia evidence including Body Worn Camera media evidence.
  • Use various technologies and a range of software techniques to vet and/or convert media evidence.
  • Record all procedures followed and technologies used during the editing process, with the knowledge and understanding that this information is subject to disclosure.
  • Prioritize court ready media or documents to meet defined deadlines.
  • Complete copies for disclosure submission requests in a time sensitive manner.
  • Determine which proprietary software programs to provide to Crown Prosecutors.
  • Complete conversion of media and editing requests.
  • Respond to Crown Inquiry memos.
  • Educate CPS Officers, Crown stakeholders regarding media submissions.
Working Conditions

Exposure to graphic and disturbing media.

Qualifications
  • A 1-year certificate in Justice or Police/Legal Studies, Digital Media, or a closely related field and a minimum of 1 year of experience working in policing, law enforcement or court disclosure environment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have a completed 2-year diploma in Justice or Police/Legal Studies, Digital Media or a closely related field.
  • Advanced proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Previous experience processing or editing videos is preferred.
  • Law Enforcement & Emergency Services Video Analysis (LEVA) Level 1 and Level 2 - Certified Forensic Video Technician is an asset.
  • Working proficiency with media programs such as: Evidence.com, Adobe Premiere Pro, Handbrake and Izotope is also considered an asset.

Pre-employment Requirements
  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.
