Job summary

Perimeter Aviation invites applications for Medevac Pilots to support 703/704 operations across remote bases. You will transport patients and freight, ensuring safety and on-time performance while complying with Transport Canada standards and company procedures.

The role requires a Category 1 Medical, ATPL for Medevac Captains, and a Group 1 Instrument Rating with substantial flight hours. Winnipeg-based position with challenging, mission-critical duties.

Qualifications

  • High-school diploma or GED required.
  • Category 1 Medical and ATPL for Medevac Captain.
  • 1500 hours total flight time with 500 hours PIC.
  • Current Group 1 Instrument Rating and ability to obtain clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct flights following SOPs, CARs, AFM, and Operations Manual.
  • Perform preflight calculations: weather, NOTAMs, fuel, weight and balance.
  • Load and secure patients, cargo, baggage and freight.
  • Assist medical crew when required and brief passengers as needed.
  • Complete flight watch with dispatcher and post-flight duties.
  • Participate in Safety Management System and maintain regulatory qualifications.

Established in 1960, Perimeter Aviation LP is a diversified company and a subsidiary of the Exchange Income Corporation, recently merged with Bearskin Airlines. With approximately 900 employees, we operate a fleet of 45+ aircraft, including Metro 2, 3, 23, Merlin and Dash 8, providing scheduled passenger and freight services across Northern Manitoba and Northern Ontario, 24/7 North American charter services, medical evacuation services, and a full‑service maintenance facility.

Position Summary

Reporting to the 703/704 Chief Pilot, Medevac Pilots transport thousands of passengers each year. Whether First Officer or Captain, the priority is to conduct each flight safely while maintaining on‑time performance and passenger comfort. Pilots must stay current on regulatory changes, possess intimate mechanical knowledge of the aircraft flown, and meet Transport Canada qualification standards.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Conduct flights with strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures, Canadian Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual, and the Company Operations Manual
  • Preflight calculations including:
  • Completing the Operational Flight Plan
  • Weather, NOTAMs, fuel and oil requirements, weight and balance
  • Signing and accepting the Manifest
  • Ensuring the aeroplane pre‑flight inspection is completed before each departure
  • Lift, load and secure patients, cargo, baggage and freight
  • Assist medical crew when required and appropriate
  • Ensure passengers are briefed in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures
  • Complete flight watch jointly with the flight dispatcher (Type B) and independently (Type C)
  • Ensure all post‑flight duties are completed, including post‑flight aeroplane inspection, notification of the Company regarding aircraft whereabouts when away from base, recording flight times, and reporting defects
  • Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System
  • Continue to meet and exceed Transport Canada qualification standards for a pilot
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications
  • High‑school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
  • Category 1 Medical
  • Current Group 1 Instrument Rating
  • 1500 Hours Total Flight Time, with 500 Hours PIC
  • ATPL for 703/704 Medevac Captains
  • Canadian citizenship or unrestricted ability to work in Canada
  • Fluent in English, with effective verbal and listening comprehension
  • Obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
  • Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record check required
  • Thorough knowledge of aviation regulations required
  • Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset
  • Valid passport required
  • Valid driver’s licence required
Working Conditions
  • Physically able to perform all listed job duties
  • Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role
  • Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and travel for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, load and secure patients, cargo, baggage and freight
  • When on scheduled shift, accommodation arranged in residence at remote base assigned to. Bases may change as per operational requirements
