About Nucleon
Nucleon is developing a uranium conversion facility to support the growing demand for nuclear fuel. We are assembling a team of engineers and industry specialists to turn that vision into a safe, reliable, and commercially competitive operating facility.
The Opportunity
Nucleon is seeking a Mechatronics & Robotics Engineer to design and develop automated material-handling systems for our uranium hexafluoride (UF₆) conversion facility.
This role brings together mechanical design, robotics, instrumentation and industrial controls. You will develop practical systems for handling hazardous uranium compounds while reducing personnel exposure, supporting containment and improving operational reliability.
You will join the project during design development, helping determine where automation adds value and carrying selected solutions through specification, testing, integration and commissioning.
Working closely with our process, mechanical, electrical, controls and operations specialists, you will translate plant requirements into equipment that can operate safely and consistently in a demanding nuclear-chemical environment.
Your scope may include robotic handling, automated transfers, positioning and manipulation, remote inspection and other electromechanical systems. You will assess commercially available solutions, work with equipment suppliers and integrators, and develop custom approaches where the application requires them.
Success means delivering equipment that operators can trust and maintenance teams can support.
Key Responsibilities
Working alongside Nucleon’s engineering and operations specialists, you will:
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult physical problems, testing ideas and building equipment that works reliably in the real world.
The ideal candidate will bring:
Experience That Would Be Especially Valuable
Experience in the following areas would be especially valuable:
Direct uranium-conversion experience is an asset, but is not essential. We value transferable industrial experience and the judgment to recognize where specialist input is required.
Why Join Nucleon?
This is an opportunity to shape a new facility while its design is still taking form. You will work closely with a small, experienced team, take meaningful ownership of your scope and see how your engineering decisions influence the eventual plant.
