Surgical, Logistics, Humanoids, Space). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate design requirements into high-reliability and high-precision sensing systems. This role focuses primarily on detailed mechanical design, modelling, prototyping and validation of force sensing systems and adjacent mechanical systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design and development of high-reliability, high-precision force-torque sensing systems for customer robotic applications throughout the product development cycle
  • Support prototype builds, calibration and validation activities of F/T sensing systems
  • Design, build and validation of high fidelity assembly and calibration fixtures
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Manufacturing, Electrical, Firmware, Software) to ensure design requirements are well defined and met
  • Collaborate closely with customers to define design requirements and integration of novel sensing systems within their applications
  • Travel to customer sites to support integration efforts as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2-5 years experience in mechanical design, preferably within precision devices or a robotics hardware environment
  • Proven proficiency in CAD and FEA software (Onshape, ANSYS preferred)
  • Strong fundamental understanding of mechanics of materials, materials and design for manufacturing and assembly principles (DFMA)
  • Experience in mechanical design of small precision machined parts
  • Hands-on experience using prototype tools and equipment (ex. 3D printers, laser cutters, shop tools)
  • Experience in leveraging PLM systems to manage revisions, BOMs and engineering change processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document design process and articulate design decisions effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outputs
  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, including familiarity with verification and validation testing
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies (Arena PLM, GDrive, Jira , Scrum Methodology)
Why ForceN?
