By joining the Kardium team, you can help make a difference in the lives of millions around the world. We have developed a ground-breaking medical device for the diagnosis and treatment of the most common heart rhythm disorder, atrial fibrillation – which can cause stroke, heart failure, and other heart-related complications.

Kardium’s mission is to deliver the best treatment for atrial fibrillation. To achieve this, we have developed The Globe Pulsed Field System – a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.

We have now completed our pivotal clinical study and our focus is on regulatory approvals and commercial launch. This is an exciting milestone in our journey to bring this technology to patients.

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience specifying, performing, and overseeing verification and validation activities on complex medical devices. Your work will involve interactions with design engineering, clinical research, field operations, regulatory affairs, and manufacturing, providing a broad understanding of medical device R&D.

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Meaningful work you will be a part of

You will engage in activities including:

  1. Planning and executing hands-on testing to evaluate product performance
  2. Characterizing manufacturing processes and assessing process capability using design of experiments
  3. Validating tests using statistical methods to assess repeatability, reproducibility, and accuracy
  4. Analyzing test data using Excel and Minitab
  5. Authoring protocols and reports for regulatory submissions
  6. Interpreting and implementing medical device standards and regulations
  7. Collaborating with stakeholders on process or design changes and testing plans
  8. Participating in root cause investigations and corrective actions
  9. Driving continuous improvement of verification and validation procedures
  10. Occasionally designing and fabricating test jigs and fixtures using SolidWorks, CAMWorks, CNC mills, and lathes

What you bring to the team

Our team is smart, creative, and passionate about creating cutting-edge medical devices. Success attributes include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering (mechanical, mechatronics, or physics preferred)
  • At least 3 years of testing and design experience in medical devices, or 5 years of hardware testing experience
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical systems, experimental design, and statistical analysis
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and timely

Compensation

Kardium offers a total cash compensation range of $80,000 – 105,000 CAD annually, including base salary and 5% RRSP contribution, based on experience and qualifications. Employees participate in Kardium’s stock option plan.
