Mechanical Technologist-Working Level

AtkinsRéalis is currently looking for a Mechanical Technologist-Working Level to join our engineering team in Kincardine, Ontario. Reporting to the Materials Manager, the Tooling Management Specialist is a highly motivated self-starter who will provide technical support for the Fuel Channel and Feeder tooling as part of the Bruce Power Fuel Channel and Feeder Replacement project. The role involves interfacing with multiple workgroups to support tooling transitions, ensuring the accuracy of the tooling management database, and assisting in planning the overall tool management.

Location: Kincardine, ON

Your role within the team:

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and policies.
  • Interface with Tool Leads, Technical Leads, and Teamsters to ensure tools are properly accounted for.
  • Register new tooling based on drawings and BOMs.
  • Perform physical crib audits at various site locations.
  • Action weekly reconciliation of items marked as consumed or lost.
  • Provide tooling support during transitions.
  • Enter controlled contamination areas, including the Vault.
  • Identify continuous process improvements.
  • Participate in meetings with internal and external groups.
  • When assigned to Tooling Transitions, work in a team setting with construction trades, shift management, and Teamsters to track tool locations, ensure tooling is labelled appropriately, and provide direction for tooling package layouts.
  • Prepare daily shift logs.
  • Assume additional related responsibilities as necessary.
  • Become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW).
  • Travel to vendor and project sites if required (duration of assignments can vary).
  • Support shift work (day/night), if required.
  • Must be “Team” oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with others and promote a positive work environment.

The ideal candidate:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 5-7 years of related technical experience in mechanical assembly, testing and repair of tooling/equipment (Nuclear Industry experience would be an asset).
  • Preference for experience working in a nuclear power plant, or the ability to obtain Bruce Power site-specific training for nuclear energy workers (such as radiation protection, respirator, fall arrest, etc).
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills are mandatory.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet your deliverables.
  • Ability to lead troubleshooting efforts and gather appropriate support when required.
  • CribMaster software experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Adobe.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working safely and within a quality program.
  • Willingness to perform shift work during transitions.
  • Experience with hand tools and common shop equipment required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate manual skills and dexterity.
  • Knowledge of established engineering design principles and methods.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience an asset.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics preferred.
  • Due to the nature of work conducted by Shoreline, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.
  • Our background check process includes a full security check and clearance process as well as reference checks. The security clearance process includes a comprehensive list of previous residences, employment, education, and other pertinent information. Those with a valid Bruce Power security clearance are strongly preferred.
