We are seeking multiple Mechanical Technologists/Technicians to support our Central Services Maintenance Department at the modernized aluminum smelter site in Kitimat, BC.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals to solve challenging problems in a complex industrial environment, including systems related to heavy equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, crushers, mills, conveyors, pipelines, and more.

Responsibilities include:

• Adhering to Rio Tinto health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Providing technical support to production and maintenance teams.
• Ensuring effectiveness of preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
• Defining spare parts requirements and working with teams to improve equipment reliability.
• Evaluating asset conditions and implementing improvement actions.
• Developing repair and refurbishment standards.
• Analyzing KPIs for continuous improvement.
• Supporting during critical breakdowns outside of regular hours.

Qualifications:

• Commitment to safety.
• Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma or Red Seal in a Mechanical trade.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical maintenance, pneumatics, hydraulics, and conveyors.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Intermediate MS Excel skills.
• Organizational skills.
• B.C. Class 7 Driver’s license or equivalent.

Beneficial if you have registration or eligibility to register as an Applied Science Technologist with ASTTBC.

What we offer
