Overview

Mechanical Technologist

The Mechanical Technologist maintains equipment reliability, advances the quality management system, updates job procedures and solves complex technical issues on the shop floor. The role will develop manufacturing-process expertise and supports product management across the product lifecycle, working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and global counterparts (including Austria) to drive product performance, resolve quality issues, and enable continuous improvement. The role will be mentored and guided by our technical Leadership-Team. No work experience needed but the willingness to learn, apply and make a difference.

Responsibilities
  • Lead quality investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions to resolve product and process issues.
  • Act as a technical liaison with global sites, particularly Austria, to coordinate product changes, quality improvements, and operational standards.
  • Develop and maintain product documentation, technical specifications, and quality standards.
  • Support the introduction of new products, processes, and machinery, including training and knowledge transfer to shop floor teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven decision-making and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and customers to address technical concerns and ensure compliance with contractual and quality requirements.
  • Maintenance & Equipment Reliability: Plan and execute preventive / corrective maintenance (TPM / CMMS), troubleshoot breakdowns, manage spare parts and contractor work, and document downtimes and actions.
  • Quality System Development (ISO 9001): Establish QMS processes; create / modify inspection instructions, control plans, checklists; apply MSA / SPC; drive CAPA using 8D / Ishikawa and similar approaches; support calibration of internal / external audits.
  • Job Procedures & Standard Work: Create, revise, and visualize SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) / work instructions; train operators / technicians; ensure EHS compliance (e.g., LOTO, risk assessments).
  • Technical Problem Solving: Lead root-cause analyses, parameter studies, and process-window definition; run line trials; reduce scrap / downtime; improve OEE and first-pass yield.
  • Manufacturing Expertise: Support process capability and takt-time optimization (e.g., injection molding, assembly, machining, joining); contribute to tooling / fixture buy-off and commissioning.
  • Product Management Support: Documentation; maintain BOMs / specs; support samples / PPAP / FAI; assist ramp-ups and change approvals; contribute to Design for Manufacturing, Design for Experiment / Value Engineering.
  • Data & Documentation: Collect and analyze production / quality data; create concise technical reports; maintain accurate records in CMMS / QMS / ERP.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or related field).
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment (plastics / injection molding and assembly).
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills in mechanical systems, tooling, and automation.
  • Knowledge of QMS (ISO 9001), CAPA (8D), SPC / MSA; familiarity with PFMEA / Control Plans.
  • Willingness to work with CMMS and basic PLC / HMI interaction for diagnostics.
  • Solid documentation skills (SOPs, checklists, reports) and cross-functional communication.
  • Safety-first mindset; experience with LOTO or any industrial EHS practices.
