This on-site role involves assembling test setups, maintaining equipment, and supporting alignment, machining, and mechanical ground support equipment activities. The ideal candidate will work hands-on with moderately complex systems under the direction of senior staff.Location: Montreal, QCJob Type: Permanent – On-siteSchedule: Weekend Shift (33 hours/week, paid for 37.5)Key Responsibilities- Assemble or modify test models and experimental setups based on instructions or supervision from senior staff.
- Install, repair, test, and maintain systems, subsystems, and equipment.
- Record and document test results in line with engineering standards.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Conduct routine maintenance and assist with repair schedules.
- Support time and cost estimation activities for test setups and fixtures.
- Recommend and source mechanical/electrical components for test benches and prototypes.
- Participate in the programming and commissioning of automated equipment using internal tools.
- Work in compliance with safety protocols and internal quality standards.
- Support MGSE operations including tooling and alignment.
- Machinist-specific tasks:
- Perform CNC and manual machining of mechanical parts.
- Interpret and validate CNC programs.
- Use metrology tools for quality checks of machined parts.
- Alignment-specific tasks (under supervision):
- Conduct high-precision alignment of tooling or flight hardware using metrology instruments.
- Support troubleshooting, calibration, and performance validation of systems.
Basic Qualifications- College Diploma (DEC) in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics, or related field.
- 2–3 years of relevant hands-on experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication in French; English is an asset.
- Familiarity with mechanical drawings, testing procedures, and lab/shop safety practices.
Additional Qualifications (Based on Assignment)- Machinist Profile:
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and CNC G-code.
- Basic metrology understanding and experience with manual/CNC machine tools.
