Job description

As a Mechanical Team Lead, you'll ensure that every mechanical scope of work on a project is executed with precision and excellence. Reporting to the Mechanical Northern Operations Manager, you’ll be the one setting daily and weekly goals that align with the overall project schedule and plan, completing 1-week and 6-week look aheads, and leading the Mechanical team on site to meet project targets.

You’ll travel for work to locations throughout BC, the Yukon and occasionally the Northwest Territories. Our crews typically work 21/7 rotations, travel in and out of various locations, work 10-hour shifts on average, and enjoy the comforts of home in well-maintained crew houses.

Your day-to-day includes connecting with the Mechanical Project Manager and Site Superintendent to align on key priorities. You ensure rough ins are done correctly, and materials and equipment are properly installed. Alongside the Site Superintendent, you monitor QA/QC, identifying and addressing any quality concerns. Another critical part of your role is reviewing sub-trade and supplier invoices for any discrepancies, keeping the financials in line with expectations.

Is this the right role for you?
Here’s how you’ll know you’ve been successful in the first 6 months:

  • Effective Team Management: You’re the Mechanical point person on site ensuring that everything under your scope is built to specifications and is compliant with codes/regulations.
  • Safety as Priority: You’ve set the standard for safety with your team. You ensure all measures meet or exceed regulatory requirements and safety is top of mind at all times.
  • Testing & Commissioning: You successfully manage inspection requirements for your scope of work and lead the start up, commissioning and handover processes for mechanical equipment.
  • Team Leadership: You drive your team to work cohesively, aligning efforts toward productivity milestones and maintaining motivation throughout the project’s lifecycle.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: When issues arise, you’re known for responding with quick thinking, aligning the team on a solution that works for everyone.

A little about Wildstone. We’re family-owned and operated, we take on projects in some of the most remote, challenging and exciting locations in western and northern Canada, and our goal is to always make a positive impact through community involvement where we work.

We take care of our teams with benefits that include health/dental/vision, RRSP matching,
Employee and Family Assistance Programs, and an Employee Recognition and Rewards Program.

What we’re looking for:

  • Professional Experience: You bring a minimum 3 years' experience working as a Mechanical Lead / Foreperson in the construction industry.
  • Education/Qualifications:You’re a Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber or have equivalent industry related experience and/or education.
  • Communication:

Whether it's interacting with stakeholders or clarifying scope details with the team, you communicate with confidence and clarity.
  • Technology: You’re proficient with MS Office 365, Bluebeam and are familiar with Procore and Outbuild scheduling software. We use Salus safety program is a bonus.
  • Certifications: You already hold or are willing to obtain Leadership for Safety Excellence, Workplace Investigation Basics, Fall protection, WHMIS 2015, Elevated Work Platform, and Level 1 First Aid.

Ready to take your expertise to the next level and make an impact on our projects? We want to hear from you!
