Mechanical Supervisor – Position Description
Position Summary

The Mechanical Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily activities of mechanical maintenance or construction teams. The role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality mechanical work, including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems. The supervisor provides technical guidance, manages work schedules, and ensures compliance with organizational standards, safety regulations, and industry codes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervision & Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and evaluate mechanical technicians, fitters, and maintenance staff.
    • Assign daily tasks, manage work schedules, and monitor performance.
    • Provide hands‑on technical support for complex mechanical issues.
  2. Maintenance & Operations
    • Oversee installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment (pumps, compressors, motors, conveyors, HVAC, piping systems, etc.).
    • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
    • Ensure machinery uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  3. Safety & Compliance
    • Enforce safety policies, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, and environmental regulations.
    • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job safety analyses (JSAs).
    • Ensure work complies with industry standards (ASME, API, ISO, OSHA or local equivalents).
  4. Planning & Coordination
    • Coordinate with production/operations teams to schedule maintenance with minimal downtime.
    • Review technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance manuals.
    • Manage spare parts, tools, and equipment inventory.
  5. Quality Control
    • Inspect completed work to ensure adherence to engineering standards and specifications.
    • Maintain detailed records of maintenance work, inspections, and repairs.
    • Identify areas for mechanical improvements and recommend solutions.
  6. Reporting & Documentation
    • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on maintenance activities.
    • Document equipment failures and root cause analyses.
    • Support budgeting and cost‑control efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or related field.
  • 3–10+ years of relevant mechanical maintenance or construction experience (depending on industry).
  • Proven experience supervising technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and maintenance planning.
