As Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll bring a collaborative leadership approach, strategic thinking, and strong operational know-how to guide a team of Technicians and Contractors in delivering safe, effective mechanical maintenance. You’ll foster a culture of care, take pride in delivering high quality work, and encourage continuous improvement to ensure plant reliability and performance targets are consistently achieved.

This role plays a key part in shaping a supportive and high performing environment where people feel valued and work together to get the job done well, every day.

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you’ll lead the coordination and execution of all day-shift mechanical maintenance activities, from routine servicing to major shutdowns, working closely with internal and external teams to keep operations running smoothly.

Key accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing maintenance leadership and execution of the strategic maintenance plan
  • Effective and efficient management of breakdowns and shutdowns within required timeframes
  • Providing technical expertise to resolve complex ongoing maintenance or breakdown issues
  • Engendering a continuous improvement culture whereby workers are encouraged to participate in initiatives seeking to improve equipment reliability and maintenance practices
  • Providing leadership and effective management of large repairs and project works
  • Ensuring shutdown maintenance work is planned effectively with appropriate risk management
  • Providing visible leadership in the field to ensure work meets statutory and site requirements in relation to safety, environmental and maintenance standards
  • Assisting in the negotiation and review of maintenance service contracts
  • Effective coordination of contractor resources including regular reviews, reporting and compliance with budgetary requirements.

To thrive in this role, candidates would have the following education and experience:

  • Completion of Mechanical Trade Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum
  • Completion of post trade qualifications (desirable)
  • Experience in heavy engineering and/or mining operations, with an emphasis on maintenance management
  • Substantial knowledge and experience in management and co-ordination of maintenance activities and contractors
  • Committed to achieving performance standards and complying with statutory requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead personnel, including high performance culture experience and continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to effectively lead, motivate and communicate at all levels.
