The role involves preparing engineering estimates, managing project schedules, and providing construction support. Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years practical project experience with static equipment and piping specifications.
  • Experience with stress analysis using Caesar II/Compress software is required.
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience within the oil and gas industry (EPCM).

  • Prepare engineering manhour estimates and project schedules.
  • Assist with mechanical construction work packages and stress analysis.
  • Lead and mentor junior mechanical engineers while managing project tasks.

You probably use synthetic rubbers in your daily life without even knowing it. During your commute to work synthetic rubbers are used in the tires of your vehicle or bicycle. When taking a shower there is a rubber seal in your tap. When opening the refrigerator the rubber seal ensures the door closes properly and keeps the cool temperature inside. Besides these more traditional applications our synthetic rubbers are used in green applications such as batteries for electric vehicles in windmills and in solar panels.

The Sarnia manufacturing facility is the headquarters for ARLANXEO Canada Inc. with a Global Research & Development Centre for Butyl Rubber found in London Ontario. Focused on the production of synthetic rubber the Sarnia facility is a major supplier to both domestic and international markets and employs over 300 employees.

ARLANXEO Sarnia is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our CapEX Project Team.

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare mechanical Engineering manhour estimates
  • Assist with project schedule preparation
  • Project manager develops / updates schedule with inputs from lead Engineers
  • FEL 1 / 2 / 3 Engineering stages
  • Participate / contribute during hazards and operability reviews
  • PHAs HAZOPs process safety checklists reviews
  • Prepare mechanical construction work packages during detail Engineering
  • Perform stress analysis of static equipment identify required piping supports
  • Prepare datasheets for rotating equipment
  • Co-ordinate TSSA registrations
  • Piping addendums / CRNs for both CapEX and Maintenance groups
  • Provide construction support
  • respond to mechanical field RFIs
  • Assist with project closure
  • Ensure As-Built document preparation by mechanical drafters
  • Assist with developing / revising in-house mechanical Engineering standards
  • All pipe fitting materials used in operating plants
  • Interact with a multi-discipline Engineer & designer project team
  • Lead / mentor junior mechanical Engineers
  • Focus on maintaining / building Production Plant relationships

Successful candidates will have :

  • 5 to 10 years practical project experience with :

Static equipment

Piping / vessel specifications ASME B31.3 and Pressure Piping Code

  • Welding and join design fit-for-service assessments
  • Caesar II / Compress software for stress analysis
  • Rotating equipment

Pumps / compressors / fans

  • HVAC equipment (some familiarity is acceptable)
  • Mechanical material requisitions
  • Construction Work Packages (CWPs)
  • Familiarity with Operating Procedures / Maintenance Plans
  • Ability to interact / communicate with all stakeholders of the project team both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple complicated tasks with under pressure
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience within the oil and gas industry (EPCM) with excellent knowledge of engineering protocols
  • Experience in brownfield design an asset
