Job summary

Harbinger Network Inc. is seeking a Project Manager to ensure Site Supervisors have the resources to execute projects and to ensure all work aligns with established administrative and operational procedures.

The successful candidate will guide field teams, collaborate with clients and stakeholders, and support the successful execution of each project while upholding safety, quality, and efficiency standards.

Qualifications

• Trade licence, Red Seal certification or equivalent industry experience is considered an asset.
• College diploma or university degree in a related field is considered an asset.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or progress toward certification, is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple construction projects, field teams and personnel.
• Valid driver’s licence in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as link between field operations and Leadership Team goals.
• Guide Site Supervisors, adjust priorities and resolve complex issues.
• Visit project sites for meetings and reviews.
• Manage multiple Site Supervisors and locations.
• Promote and enforce established project management processes.

Project Manager – Position Description

This position description highlights the primary responsibilities, activities and performance expectations of the Project Manager. It also describes the typical scope of responsibility and influence associated with the role.

Position Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring Site Supervisors have the resources required to execute their projects successfully and that all work is completed in accordance with established administrative and operational procedures.

The successful candidate will possess strong technical, project management and people-management capabilities. They will provide guidance to field teams and work collaboratively with clients and other stakeholders to support the successful execution of each project.

Essential Responsibilities

The Project Manager serves as an important link between field operations and the goals and objectives established by the Leadership Team.

Approximately 90% of the Project Manager’s time will be spent guiding Site Supervisors, adjusting project priorities and helping resolve complex project-related issues. The remaining 10% will involve supporting company initiatives, planning and forecasting, assigning resources, and providing input on matters affecting clients and projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Using the head office as their primary base while regularly visiting project sites to conduct meetings and project reviews.

• Managing multiple Site Supervisors and project locations.

• Promoting and ensuring the consistent use of established project management processes and procedures.

• Ensuring that Project Coordinators and Site Supervisors conduct regular project meetings and follow up on outstanding issues.

• Working with Site Supervisors to develop and review the Work Breakdown Structure for each project and providing guidance on how it can be improved.

• Managing overall project schedules in collaboration with Site Supervisors.

• Reviewing labour requirements with Site Supervisors to ensure projects are properly staffed.

• Ensuring Site Supervisors prioritize tasks appropriately and accurately reflect those priorities in six-week look-ahead schedules.

• Adjusting labour resources in collaboration with Site Supervisors to improve project efficiency and meet higher-priority commitments.

• Reviewing project setup plans and recommending improvements to increase efficiency.

• Preparing and communicating clear instructions to Site Supervisors, with the appropriate level of detail based on their experience.

• Supporting Site Supervisors with technical, operational and management-related issues.

• Providing managerial guidance and mentorship to support the professional development and career growth of Site Supervisors.

• Communicating organizational goals and objectives to project teams.

• Completing employee performance reviews and establishing individual goals that align with broader organizational objectives.

• Maintaining accountability for overall project results.

• Managing project forecasting activities and ensuring that required follow-up actions are completed.

• Ensuring all project-related documentation follows established policies and procedures.

• Proactively identifying opportunities to streamline and improve work processes.

• Supporting the Leadership Team with organization-wide initiatives and projects.

Performance Expectations

The Project Manager will be expected to:

• Follow and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

• Prioritize health and safety in every area of the business.

• Maintain a strong understanding of construction practices, scheduling, contractual requirements, legal considerations and financial risks.

• Proactively identify and minimize project-related risks.

• Mentor Site Supervisors in accordance with established project management procedures and best practices.

• Effectively manage resources, priorities and risks.

• Clearly communicate the impact of management decisions to project teams and other stakeholders.

• Continually strengthen their project management and people-management skills.

• Complete all required internal training within the established timelines. A training schedule will be developed as part of the annual goal-setting process. Some formal training may be required before an individual can be considered for the Project Manager role. Individuals hired directly into the role must complete the required training within two years.

• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Build trusted relationships and foster a positive working environment for employees, clients and other stakeholders.

• Actively improve work processes and eliminate inefficiencies.

• Support ISO quality-control programs and participate in audits as required.
