Job DescriptionJob Description

Highland Consulting Group, a executive search firm specializing in construction recruitment, is partnering with a well-established Mechanical Contractor in the Newark, NJ area to find an experienced Mechanical Project Manager.

This permanent, on-site role offers long-term stability with little to no travel and is ideal for a detail-oriented leader with 5+ years of experience managing commercial and industrial mechanical piping, plumbing, and sheet metal projects. Large project experience is .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all project phases to ensure seamless execution from start to finish.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules to meet key milestones.
  • Estimate, negotiate, and track change orders effectively.
  • Manage project budgets and approve all related expenses.
  • Oversee contract administration and subcontractor/equipment buyouts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project owners and stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed project records and ensure proper closeout documentation.
  • Conduct punch-list inspections with superintendents and owner representatives.
  • Build and foster strong client relationships to drive repeat business opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Project Manager handling projects $3M+.
  • Expertise in new build and retrofit projects within commercial and industrial mechanical systems.
  • Strong ability to establish timelines, manage budgets, and negotiate change orders.
  • Proven multi-tasking and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead effective, multi-discipline meetings.
  • A stable, verifiable record of project management success.
  • Strong understanding of project financials and cost control.
