Position: Mechanical Project Engineer Location: Downtown Toronto Key Responsibilities: The responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
Develop concept designs, perform load calculations, create schematics, select equipment, and prepare system concept reports.
Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants and architects.
Prepare contract documents, including specifications.
Conduct site visits during the construction phase.
Work alongside the field review team to ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards and LEED requirements where applicable.
Regularly update project schedules as agreed upon.
Review and evaluate shop drawings.
Provide status reports to the Project Manager.
Address resource-related issues by escalating them to the appropriate Project Manager.
Assist with sourcing new projects and maintaining existing client relationships.
Qualifications, Experience, and Education:
Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (e.g., Building Systems).
Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility for licensure in Ontario.
5+ years of engineering/design coordination experience in the consulting industry.
5+ years of experience with the implementation of design/engineering concepts through the preparation of mechanical system drawings and schematics for a variety of projects, including healthcare, hospitality, commercial, institutional, residential, and public/private facilities.
Required Skills:
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.
Strong understanding of current engineering principles and practices, along with solid project management knowledge.
Experience with site visits is an advantage.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-engineers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, including executives.
Strong time management and project management capabilities.
Demonstrated independent judgment and sound decision-making skills.
Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
