Plains is looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to work on our pipeline system based out of our Sherwood Park office. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing mechanical support within a maintenance team environment on various rotating equipment, valves, pressure relief devices, and other related equipment in hydrocarbon service.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular inspections of pipelines and associated equipment like pumps and valves to ensure optimal operation and identify potential issues early.

  • Perform maintenance tasks such as replacing parts, fixing leaks, and applying corrosion protection measures to prolong the lifespan of pipeline systems.

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair all stationary and rotating mechanical equipment.

  • Adhere to the Work Execution Management Process (WEMP). Ensure all work is initiated, tracked & closed within CMMS (Maximo).

  • Identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.

  • Ensure preventative maintenance programs and guidelines for all our mechanical equipment is adhered to.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies/procedures as they pertain to this position.

  • Understand and adhere to safety practices, procedures and policies such as HAZOPS and design reviews.

  • Operate heavy machinery including forklifts, man-lifts, and picker trucks.

  • Provide support during non-business hours within the expectations of an on-call rotation.

  • Work within a team environment which will require cross-discipline support.

  • Work hours are 7:30 – 4:30 within the 9-80 shift rotation.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Grade XII with an inter-provincial Journeyman status in the Millwright or Mechanical trades.

  • Knowledgeable in the operation and maintenance of pumps, valves, relief valves, mechanical seals, and other equipment.

  • A preference will be given to those with 5+ years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.

  • Strong computer and problem solving skills are required.

  • Self motivated and energetic with effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals in a busy field environment.

  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.

  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.

  • Compliance with the Company’s requirement to be clean shaven to ensure proper fit of emergency PPE.

  • A valid Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract is a condition of employment.
