Job summary

PE Global is partnering with a leading multinational manufacturer in Peterborough to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for an initial 12-month contract. The role covers maintenance, repair and installation of facility equipment, fault finding and improvement projects, with 37 hours per week on a 9-day fortnight and a typical start around 06:00.

Pay is £22.51 per hour PAYE or £30.55 per hour Umbrella, with core hours around 07:30, and a strong emphasis on health and safety and 5S in a

Qualifications

  • Completed engineering apprenticeship and/or NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes and machine shop operations
  • Ability to read mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical drawings

Responsibilities

  • Respond to fault conditions and repair using varied techniques
  • Maintain, repair and install facility equipment
  • Follow standard work procedures with tools and lifting equipment
  • Collaborate with engineers and external contractors
  • Lead improvement and root cause projects; present findings
  • Train apprentices and co-workers
  • Balance workload and priorities to meet business needs
  • Maintain health and safety and 5S standards
  • Keep work area clean, tidy and safe

Job description

PE Global is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for a leading multi-national manufacturing client based in Peterborough.

This is an initial 12 months contract position.

Pay rate is £22.51ph PAYE or £30.55ph Umbrella.

37 hours per week.

9-day fortnight working pattern.

Typical core hours around 07:30.

Flexible working: Earliest start around 06:00, Later start around 07:30

Finish times vary accordingly.

Duties of the role/Responsibilities

  • Responding to testbed and other facility breakdowns using fault finding to effectively conduct repairs using a variety of techniques.
  • Cover the maintenance, repair and installation of new facility equipment.
  • Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions, using various hand power tools and lifting equipment provided.
  • Engaging with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team including peers, engineers, and external contractors.
  • Run improvement and root cause investigation projects and present findings through technical presentations to the wider team.
  • Training and supporting apprentices and co-workers.
  • Balancing workload and priorities in line with the business needs.
  • Working to and modelling health and safety standards to keep individuals, team members and the public safe.
  • Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S.

Education/Experience

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Served a full engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or Qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent and/or relevant job related experience.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of maintenance processes and tools, machine shop operations, equipment and processes plus familiarity with materials and quality objectives.
  • Ability to read and interpret, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical drawings and schematics.

Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Fault finding and diagnostics on hydraulic systems or Fuel Systems.
  • Laser alignment of rotating equipment.

The Successful Candidate may also be a subject matter expert in one of the following fields
