Job description
Description / Major Responsibilities Of Position

The Mechanical Integrity (MI) Engineer is accountable for the execution of the mechanical integrity program at Linde Canada production facilities. This position requires excellent collaboration with site and regional technical resources. Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Work directly with other MI engineers, regional technical resources and Linde Canada production facilities to implement and maintain the overall MI program in alignment with applicable industry Recognized And Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) and corporate policies.
  • Manage the inspections of fixed equipment & piping systems for Linde Canada production facilities.
  • Review inspection reports, prepare corrective action plans based on identified deficiencies and support facilities with the completion of corrective actions.
  • Track the MI program status against plan and periodically report progress to management.
  • Qualify and manage 3rd party inspection contractors.
  • Support the development of risk based inspection approaches.
  • Review maintenance management system records to verify that appropriate preventive maintenance activities are assigned and being performed.
  • Maintain up to date MI records and recordkeeping systems.
  • Perform technical review of equipment / piping modifications per the Management of Change process.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to develop and maintain MI policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and expert input into Process Hazard Analyses and Root Cause Analyses.
  • Support Production facilities in technical compliance with applicable national and provincial Codes and standards.
  • Perform other technical support tasks as assigned.

This position includes both office and field work and requires short duration domestic travel (~20% travel). Off-hours accessibility (laptop and cell phone) are occasionally required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical).
  • A minimum of 5 years of combined experience in engineering (design, construction, production), operations, or maintenance is a must.
  • Experience with common non-destructive testing techniques.
  • Experience with implementing a mechanical integrity program at an industrial facility.
  • Working knowledge of API 510, API 570 and ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel (Section VIII) and Piping Codes (B31.3).
  • Technical knowledge / experience in Air Separation & / or Industrial Gas plant equipment including instrumentation & control systems would be a definite asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and team interaction skills are required. This person will have the ability to work independently and make technical decisions based on awareness of viability, cost and other benefits. Must be a self-starter and have the ability to lead and participate on cross-functional teams.
  • Must have the ability to drive resolution of highest impact issues with a strong sense of urgency and integrity.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English / French) candidates are preferred.
