We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Designer to join our collaborative Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex design challenges, thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and is motivated to see their ideas brought to life in vehicles that support critical life-saving services. Key Responsibilities
As the Mechanical Engineering Designer, you will:
- Lead the creation of new mechanical designs and features in line with Crestline’s engineering and quality standards
- Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, production drawings, and complete Bill of Materials
- Review work by CAD/CAM Designers and offshore design partners
- Ensure design compliance with OEM chassis requirements, customer expectations, and regulatory standards (CMVSS, FMVSS, CAAS)
- Apply engineering analysis (e.g., stress, HVAC, fluid flow) to ensure functional and safe designs
- Identify and implement design improvements that enhance product value and manufacturability
- Support production teams with troubleshooting and resolving design-related quality concerns
- Contribute to project reviews and design meetings
- Drive standardization and innovation across the product line
Qualifications
As the Mechanical Engineering Designer, you will bring:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of product design experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Vault (or equivalent 3D CAD and Data Management Systems), along with experience with change management in a PDM/PLM system.
- Solid understanding of drafting principles and 3D CAD design
- Knowledge of relevant vehicle standards and legislation (CMVSS, FMVSS, CAAS, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with design for manufacturing and value engineering
- An analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- A collaborative and communicative approach to working in cross-functional teams
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage shifting priorities
