Term : Winter, Summer, and Fall 2025

Approx. Start Dates :

  • Winter : January 6th, 2025
  • Summer : May 5th, 2025
  • Fall : September 2nd, 2025

Deadline to apply :

Hours per week : Minimum 40 hours

Duration : 4 or 8 months

Pay rate : $25 CAD - $35 CAD per hour

Location : Victoria, BC

At Blue Robotics, we enable the field of marine robotics with affordable components and systems. We design innovative underwater tech that allows individuals and organizations to explore and learn about our oceans and waterways.

Our small, vibrant design team in Victoria, BC, values collaboration, humility, and boldness. We work together through all design stages, from initial concepts to fully tested, volume-manufactured products.

We seek a budding mechanical designer with CAD experience and a desire to grow. If you :

While challenges are part of the journey, you'll be designing real products with responsibilities comparable to full-time engineers, not just working on manufacturing lines.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex mechanical assemblies such as pressure-rated enclosures, motors, battery modules, connectors, lights, electronics trays, cameras, and vehicle frames
  • Evaluate system failure modes, develop validation plans, and support testing
  • Conduct component and vehicle-level testing for performance, durability, reliability, and variability
  • Design lab testing equipment and perform testing
  • Identify, communicate with, and build relationships with new suppliers

Basic Qualifications :

  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering degree related to Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mechatronics, etc.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and drafting in at least one CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, etc.)
  • Strong foundation in statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials engineering
  • Experience in designing, building, and testing projects
  • A deep curiosity and drive to understand and create
  • Ability to collaborate, learn, and adapt
